Come meet and socialize with other Young Professionals in the Greenville/Pitt County area\, and hear from Beth Sigmon and Varessa Wall with the Vidant Foundation. \n   \nFor over 25 years\, Beth Sigmon has served in several capacities at Vidant Medical Center such as marketing\, grant writing\, and fundraising with a specific emphasis on campaigns here at Vidant.  She is the Senior Administrator of Major Gifts for Vidant Health Foundation and manages the entire fundraising staff that includes the Cancer Campaign\, Employee Campaign\, Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Hospital\, Planned Giving\, and Annual Fund.  Beth received a Bachelor of Arts from Meredith College in Raleigh\, and has received certification from Madison School of Business from the University of Wisconsin in Major Gift Fundraising.  She is also an active member of the Association for Healthcare Professionals. \nVaressa Wall is a Director of Development and has been at Vidant Health Foundation for over 4 years.  Varessa came to the Greenville community from Houston\, Texas and is originally from New Orleans\, Louisiana.  She has over 18 years of experience in fundraising\, grant writing\, volunteer recruiting and special event planning from medical schools and academic health centers such as Tulane University School of Medicine\, Ochsner Clinic Foundation\, University of Texas Medical Branch and Menninger Clinic.   Her main responsibility at this time is to manage the Vidant Cancer Care Campaign which includes fundraising\, volunteer management/recruitment\, as well as managing all campaign associated materials\, and presentations.

He was appointed to this position in 2012\, after serving as Assistant General Manager/Chief Operating Officer since 2006. He has more than 30 years of experience in public utilities\, joining Greenville Utilities from Greer Commission of Public Works in South Carolina. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Master’s degree in Organizational Management from Southern Wesleyan University. His experience includes management of electric\, water\, sewer and natural gas operations. \nCannon serves on the Board of Directors for the American Public Power Association (APPA) where he is a member of the Liaison Committee (to the American Public Gas Association) and the Finance and Audit Review Committee. He is a past chair of the Carolinas Public Gas Association. Cannon currently serves on the Executive Committee for the East Carolina University Educational Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Directors and is a past Chair of the Pitt-Greenville Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Board of Directors and is past chair for the Pitt County Committee of 100. He is involved with numerous other professional and civic organizations.

DESCRIPTION:CAREER OVERVIEW\nBurk Uzzle’s career\, like his pictures\, is a nuanced composition blending American culture\, individual psyches of particular places or people\, and an atypical way of seeing ourselves\, our values\, and our community. Always respectful yet locating the poignant or quirky\, the history of his narrative belongs to all of us. \nInitially grounded in documentary photography when he was the youngest photographer ever hired by LIFE magazine at age 23\, his work then grew into a combination of split-second impressions reflecting the human condition during his tenure as a member of the prestigious international Magnum cooperative founded by one of his mentors Henri Cartier-Bresson. For fifteen years\, Uzzle was an active contributor to the evolution of the organization and served as its President in 1979 and 1980. During the sixteen years he was associated with Magnum\, he produced some of the most recognizable images we have of Woodstock (album cover and worldwide reproduction of its iconic couple hugging at dawn) to the assassination and funeral of Martin Luther King Jr. to our comprehension for the experience of Cambodian war refugees. \nHis archive spans almost six decades. His current work rests deep in photographic appreciation of the quiet\, strong\, and eloquent beauty he discovers in America’s small towns and its people. Uzzle’s current body of work is the production of artful and constructed reflections of his subjects\, many of whom are African-American residents proximal to his studio in North Carolina. Their layers of experience are conjoined with Uzzle’s fundamental appreciation for unseen characteristics\, which he ably captures in a collaborative\, interpretive context along with his eye and his heart. interpretation\, of art\, of independently produced projects.
