YP spotlight: Jamie Bailey
How did you get to Greenville? • I moved to Greenville in 2008 to attend ECU and have been here since.
Where is your favorite breakfast/coffee spot in Greenville? • The Scullery.
Where is your favorite lunch spot in Greenville? • That’s a tough one. SupDogs is definitely a favorite during the summer.
Where is your favorite dinner spot in Greenville? • Ninos and DAP House are two of my favorites.
What are your top three things to do in Greenville? • I love watching the Pirates play, going to breweries, and running on the greenway.
What is your favorite festival in Greenville? • The Umbrella Market every Wednesday during the summer. I love going to shop and grab dinner from the local vendors. Some of my best jewelry finds have been there.
What is your favorite park in Greenville and why? • The Greenville Off Leash Dog Area. I have a black lab that lives for playing at the dog park. It’s also right on the greenway so I can easily take her for a run or swim in the river afterwards.
How do you give back to Greenville? • I have been very blessed to work for a company that highly values giving back to the community which has provided me opportunities to do the same. These include contributing to the United Way of Pitt County, participating in fundraisers for disaster relief, helping families in need at Christmas, and attending charity events. I find no greater feeling than helping those in need.
What is one thing you would like to see come to Greenville?
• It would be great to see more concerts and a larger variety of artists come to Greenville as well as more venues to accommodate these artists. Currently, performances in Greenville tend to be local bands or big name artists performing for events tied to ECU. There isn’t much in between.
How can Greenville be improved? • I think Greenville has improved significantly in the last 5 years and we simply need to continue what we’re already doing, especially when it comes to encouraging small business growth, expanding the greenway, and building up the uptown area.
How did you hear about the Young Professionals of Pitt County? • I saw a 3rd Thursday event on Facebook and decided to check it out.
What is your favorite part of YP? • That it brings together and is growing a small group in the community. After college, many of my friends moved out of Greenville which was hard since my family isn’t from the area so I felt like I didn’t know anyone. YP helped me meet new like-minded people my age and is continuously bringing awareness to the importance of retaining young professionals in the community.
What is your favorite YP event and why? • The 3rd Thursday events because it gives me the chance to meet and network with other young professionals which can be hard to do working an 8-5. I’ve made some great friends and been given opportunities to get more involved in the community through these events.
